The Future of Selling Design
The design landscape is changing. Budgets are being cut and cheap design proliferates through online creative sourcing enterprises like 99designs.com and Crowdspring. Even the world's hottest ad agency is 'crowdsourcing' logos. RFPs for design are now commonplace, and increasingly procurement departments are getting involved. What's going on here, where is it all headed and what does it mean for how design will be bought and sold in the near future?
Blair Enns is on a mission to change the way creative services are bought and sold the world over, one design firm and ad agency at a time. He is the founder of Win Without Pitching and a business development advisor to creative firms around the world. Enns thinks we're at the beginning of a fundamental shift that will put many designers out of work and make others rich. As he sees it, design is low on the list of skills that will determine a designer's fate.
Enns's book, The Win Without Pitching Manifesto is being published by Rock Bench Press in January 2010.
