
Please join our friends at the TAA for their next event at Robson Square, Arthur Erickson's urban masterpiece in the heart of downtown Vancouver. This public space has been revitalized as the new GE Plaza with the renovated skating rink as its centre piece. Cal Braun of GE and Clive Grout Architect will share with you how the project was realized including a personal tour through the GE Plaza.
This event will be hosted at the 2010 Commerce Centre at Robson Square. Ken Valdman will explain the mandate of the Centre and tour you through the BC Showcase including a behind the scenes look at some of the latest innovative interactive media.

Calman (Cal) Braun, P.Eng.
Manager, GE Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games Solutions
Cal manages the GE Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games Solutions Group and heads up the effort to ensure the effective coordination of all aspects of GE's 2010 Vancouver Olympic projects including the GE Plaza at Robson Square - from the bid process through project management and execution. The goal is to make GE a much bigger and stronger presence during and after the Games and an integral member of the British Columbia business community. Cal holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and is a long standing member of the professional engineering community.
Clive Grout FRAIC, MAIBC
Clive has 40 years experience as an architect and planner responsible for a wide variety and scale of project types. Most recently his energies and talents have been focused on the design of entertainment attractions, airports, retail, and the masterplanning of urban mixed-use projects.Clive has recently been involved in the leadership of establishing public art programs for significant public use facilities. Clive pioneered the concept of producing a thematic masterplan to guide the development of an art program within major public facilities and the plans developed for YVR and the new Convention Centre have become models for public cultural facilities.Clive received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a member of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and is co-founder and honourary president of the Themed Attraction Association.
