GDC Manitoba extends hearty congratulations to Robert Coté (CGD) and Sarah Barchyn (student) at Winnipeg-based Blindside Creative, for representing our province in the 2011 Design Edge Canada Regional Design Awards - taking home best logo honours in the Prairie region.

The new mark for PrairieHouse Performance developed by Blindside earned highest marks in the logo category for the Prairie region (Manitoba/Saskatchewan). The concept now appears in Design Edge Canada's Regional Design Awards 2011 annual, now in circulation.

At a packed house at Toronto's Gladstone Hotel, with finalists and designers in attendance from across the country, category and Best of Region winners of Design Edge Canada's 2011 Regional Design Awards were announced.

The story behind the logo

"At the time of development, PrairieHouse Performance was the only "LEEDS Canada for Homes" certified company in Manitoba. They perform home energy performance consultation and evaluation for home renovation and new home projects. Home performance includes energy and water efficiency, air quality, comfort, and durability of a home. The identity represents these systems flowing in and out of a single prairie house. It is both simple in its concept but complex in its execution - much like the process of green building and green renovating."
