Interesting article. In my opinion, the lower initial cost of developing a logo through crowdsourcing leaves the small business without the true benefit of a real branding package, which will cost the small business owner much more over time than a branding package would have initially. Small business people need to educate themselves about the true costs of design, and how lacking a design strategy can impact their bottom line when developing marketing collateral and other brand specific items.
