The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC®) Foundation is pleased to announce its first scholarship for graduate students in Canada.

The Marc Brisbourne Scholarship Fund has been created through a generous donation from the GDC Alberta North Chapter to provide a scholarship for a graduate student pursuing research with a focus on visual communication at a Canadian post-secondary institution.

The $500 GDC Foundation Marc Brisbourne Scholarship award was created in honour of Marc Brisbourne LGDC, MacEwan University Chair of Design Studies, who passed away in early February 2013. Marc earned his Master of Design degree from the University of Alberta in 2005. He was passionate about design research and education and well respected in the design community.

“This new fund allows the GDC Foundation to support a higher level of education in the design and communication field, and encourage design research which will benefit the profession and Canada,” said Peggy Cady, GDC Foundation Committee Chair. “We are pleased to be able to honour Marc Brisbourne's memory and his contributions to design education in this manner.”

Donations to the scholarship fund can be made at
www.gdc.net/about/store.php.

The scholarship is open to any Masters or Doctoral degree student pursuing research with a focus on visual communication in Canada at a Canadian post-secondary institution
