

General descriptions for each of GDC Atlantic’s six Executive positions.
President
The president is the principal representative to non-members, members and the general public. He/she inspires, directs and contributes to the activities of the executive, committees, subcommittees and members. The president plans and proposes medium and long-term goals; assesses the performance of participants; strengthens ties with relevant organizations; is the principal contact with government; and casts the deciding vote in any tie.
Past President
The past president serves in general to assist the president. He/she is the principal source of continuity in procedures and programs; contributes to the medium and long-term goals; contributes to the ties with relevant organizations; contributes to the contact with government; and oversees the education and publishing programs.
Vice President
The vice president serves in general to assist the president. He/she solicits, manages, records and acknowledges contributions of materials and services by members and non-members; administers the portfolio, ethics and arbitration review subcommittees and other committees as deemed appropriate by the president.
Secretary
The secretary is responsible for the administrative operations of the chapter. He/she maintains the bylaws and its appendices; is responsible for all formal notices to members; administers communications with particular reference to publishing and mailing; administers activities of other committee activities as deemed appropriate by the president and as chapter needs warrant.
Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for the financial affairs of the chapter. He/she maintains current financial records; administers the activities of the internal auditors; contributes to the planningof program budgets and reviews adherence to them; administers and pays the national society dues; issues cheques for accounts payable; and administers any cash receipts from chapter activities.
National Representative
The national representative is responsible for the communications between the chapter, the national society and other chapters. He/she administers the election of delegates and their efforts; administers chapter submissions to the national society; ensures that all relevant materials prepared by the chapter are distributed to the national society and other chapters; ensures that all materials prepared by the national society and other chapters are distributed to the appropriate persons and files, and are represented in the chapter archives; represents the chapter at national society biennial meetings.
