VANCOUVER—You can't talk about architecture in Vancouver without talking about sustainability. But Friday's CreativeMornings/Vancouver wasn't all about what we're doing right. It was also about what we're doing wrong.

The Graphic Designers of Canada – BC Chapter will be hosting the Salazar Student Awards May 11th, 2012 from 6-10pm at UBC Robson Square. The annual awards program recognizes outstanding student design projects from throughout the province. In addition, a special keynote address by Robert L. Peters will take place.
Thursday May 03, 2012 at 7:30pm at The Ironworks.
Using scientific proof and state-of-the-art multimedia techniques, Aaron James Draplin of the Draplin Design Co. delivers a suckerpunch of a talk that aims to provide bonafide proof of work, the highs and lows of a ferociously independent existence and a couple tall tales from his so-called career in the cutthroat world of contemporary graphic design. Just a regular guy with a trajectory a little dirtier than yours, his talk is open to all oncomers brave enough to show up. If you are a youngster, you may find yourself inspired to attack your design future in a different way. If you are established, you may just leave feeling grateful you don't have anything to do with him. Hard to say. One night only, Vancouver!
The GDC launches its Environmental Best Practices Guide for designers who want to make better design decisions for the planet. The interactive format makes this guide easy to use. So before you start your next project, check the checklist and aim for a simply sustainable solution.

Welcome to the first of several GDC sponsor profile featurettes.
We love to give more exposure to our great friends who understand the value of an association with the GDC year after year. In turn this will also inform our members of the sponsors' value, other potential sponsors of what they are missing and how to get involved. It's a triple-win situation really.
