You're awesome. We're awesome. Let's get together and bask in our awesomeness. Did we mention barbecue? Free burgers and hotdogs? Bocce and croquet? Trout Lake on a gorgeous summer evening? Yes, we know that sounds good!

Whether you're a member of GDC/BC, CAPIC, BCID, SIGGRAPH, TAAC, IXDA or SEGD you need to be there for the 5th annual Associations Summer BBQ. Because, let's face it, we're a little less awesome without you.

WHO: You and your family (the two-legged kind and the four-legged kind are both welcome).

WHEN: Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 6:00-9:30 pm.

WHERE: Trout Lake Park | Picnic Area Pavilion (located in the SE corner of John Hendry Park), Vancouver. View map here.

Bring your own liquid refreshments and, ideally, a reusable drink container – like previous years we’re aiming to make this event as sustainable as possible. Compost and recycling bins will be provided.

And please RSVP here to help us ensure we have enough food for everyone!

Design Thinking is a way to code design deeper into our society. It helps organizations of all types realize the importance of design and to work more creatively with designers on the full sweep of social and business problems where design can be applied.

The LinkedIn Design Thinking Group (more than 7,000 members) and ECUAD have partnered to bring the first Design Thinking unConference to Vancouver on August 19 & 20.

The format is a series or roundtable discussions on Friday August 19th followed by an unConference on August 20. The goal of the conference is to move forward the wider conversation on design thinking while building a community of pracitioners and at the same time to increase Vancouver's global presence as a centre of design. GDC members are encouraged to attend and to propose sessions for the unConference.
