Despite our best efforts, Manitoba in spring struck hard this morning, preventing us from hopping into our rental van for the trip through the heart of Canada to Saskatoon for the AGM.
Some furious txts and emails between the team saw us book last-minute flights, departing earlier this evening. We arrived in Saskatoon shortly after 8:30pm - probably around the time we would have arrived in the van given the road conditions - and arrived at the hotel just in time to catch the last few minutes of the Graphex 08 display at the swanky Saskatoon Club.
Each year the National GDC Executive, and Reps from each chapter meet in a different Canadian City to discuss, debate and get energized for the year ahead. This year we are off to Saskatoon.
April 20, 2008This week GDC executives from across the country will be uniting in Saskatoon for our National Annual General Meeting. Since this one is so close to home Manitoba extended the offer to attend from our usual two reps to the entire executive. We are allowed 3 participating delegates myself, Oliver and Adrian. We will also have the pleasure of Raelene and Jessica's company, who will be coming to observe.
At the crack of dawn on April 24th we will pile into a van and head North West. Road trip playlists in hand and thumbs ready for DS tournaments, we will burn up the highway as we get ready to dive into our weekend of design and drinks.
The weekend is a valuable motivator for overworked volunteers, as well as a step towards successful succession planning. Plus it's a great party. I doubt Saskatoon will disappoint!
