Well, you’re going to need to fix the URL. A rationally developed blog cannot end in /articles4.htm. /blog/ is sufficient. We'll talk some other day about the numerous validation errors and deficiencies in Web standards. What *does* this blog look like when viewed without images, Flash, or scripting? See for yourself.

And, somewhat incredibly, this is a blog without RSS, which is like a designer without fonts.

To be sure, we're still working on it Joe - stay tuned for a more blog-like blog shortly with RSS and all the linking bells and whistles. BTW the blog location doesn't end the way you state, only that one entry does.

Joe: it would be handy to see some blogs you hold aloft as an example of what we should be doing on gdc.net. Web logs take many forms. I would also be keen to know why our target audience would be interested in a website without images, flash, scripting or the numerous other technologies at play that currently seem to attract the business and design community in unprecedented numbers. Standards are great and should be applied, but we are not necessarily shooting for the lowest common denominator I hope.

Over-all, I like the look of the new site. However, the "Find a Designer" function is utterly useless and unfair, specifically: a) when I clicked AB South, a California designer sample showed up, b) when I searched for my own link, another designer's work was presented - forcing me to click a second time to see my own work; c) the lists of members goes on for several pages, meaning the first page people get HUGE exposure, while the rest of us are left in the dust (hasn't anyone heard of Google rankings - if you are not in the first few items on page one, you don't exist). Need I go on?

You are not alone, Randy, in your opinion about this section. The design of the site, with a narrow middle column, does not allow for the display of generous amounts of content in one page view. This is currently being remedied and should be online shortly. (As my last name starts with R, I am even 'lower' down the rankings that you... ;-) The image 'randomizer' is also going to be ditched, so when you select the designer, you get their work.

Thanks Rod. Will watch for the updates. Can someone notify me when it's all up to snuff? 'Cause, at that point is when I can refer people to the site.

Complete change of subject. GDC/BC are part of Partners for life with Canadian Blood Services. There are three of us who are regular donors, but I want to encourage all of you to at least *think* about becoming a blood donor. You really are helping to save lives. It's really easy, takes about an hour and you get FREE COOKIES!!! What's not to like?
