Portfolio One-On-One
April 27, 2010 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Kings Head Pub, 120 King Street

GDC Manitoba once again hosts its spring-season Portfolio One-On-One event, an evening get-together for new graduates of graphic design from Red River College and the University of Manitoba to meet with design professionals and receive valuable tips and critique on their books.

Where: Kings Head Pub (120 King Street)
When: Tuesday April 27, 2010

Time: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

(Appetizer platters will be supplied; drinks will be your responsibility!)

If you're interested in participating as a mentor, you'll be scheduled to meet with a student in a time-slot of your choosing. To participate, email by Friday April 16. If your schedule does not allow you to do a review on Tuesday, April 27, there is another option: GDC Manitoba can arrange for you to meet with a student on your own schedule, between April 26 and April 30.

There is plenty of space at The Kings Head for socializing. Come early and/or stick around after your reviews!

Using scientific proof and state-of-the-art multimedia techniques, Aaron James Draplin of the Draplin Design Co. delivers a suckerpunch of a talk that aims to provide bonafide proof of work, the highs and lows of a ferociously independent existence and a couple tall tales from his so-called career in the cutthroat world of contemporary graphic design. Just a regular guy with a trajectory a little dirtier than yours, his talk is open to all oncomers brave enough to show up. If you are a youngster, you may find yourself inspired to attack your design future in a different way. If you are established, you may just leave feeling grateful you don't have anything to do with him. Hard to say. One night only, Vancouver!
