The 2009/2010 annual report will be arriving in your mailboxes any day now, so we asked Zahra Al-Harazi, CGD to relate to us what went into creating this incredibly intricate and beautifully designed and printed book. The National Executive is hugely impressed by the incredible amount of work and thought that Foundry Creative (and Blanchette Press) put into this report, and we cannot thank them enough. Here's Zahra's thoughts on the project:

Once every so often, a project comes into the studio that the entire team is involved in and inspired by. The GDC 2009/2010 Annual Report was just that project for us at Foundry. The annual report gave us the opportunity to rethink what makes a great annual, and reinvent ideas about sustainability. Through specific partnerships, we were able to source unique and reusable materials that would have otherwise been discarded. Make readies were provided by Blanchette press, which were then French-folded to create a blank canvas to work on. Excess twine was used for binding.

With all hands on board we created a visually stunning, though provoking annual report. From the word ‘go’ the entire office was involved, from brainstorming and idea generation through to production and printing, the process of bringing this annual together was a team effort. Blanchette Press and the GDC were all part and parcel of creating something that we are all incredibly proud of.

The GDC Annual Report was an extremely personal piece for us—handwriting certain spreads, as well as including personal experiences and stories. As members, we felt a responsibility to do the GDC justice, and show just how impactful they are as a society. Foundry is tremendously honored to have worked on the GDC Annual Report. Thank you.
