Canadian Government Requires Industry Guidance on Procurement Strategy
Deadline of January 20, 2012

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is requesting your feedback on the draft National Procurement Strategy for Communication Services. Your insight will help inform the Government of Canada's approach to the procurement of communication services and facilitate the development of a final National Procurement Strategy that better responds to the needs of government departments, existing and potential suppliers and all Canadians.

Based on a preliminary review of communication services procurement by government departments, PWGSC is pleased to release the draft National Procurement Strategy for Communication Services based on the opportunities identified by key stakeholder groups during the initial review and consultation stage.

The strategy aims to provide a uniform and consistent national approach that, when implemented, will improve the ease and effectiveness of the procurement process for all stakeholders. In addition to enhancing transparency and efficiency through a more standardized approach to procurement, the proposed strategy will adapt the definition of communication services to industry trends and eliminate the overlap of services that exist across other categories.

Government departments and suppliers are encouraged to review the details and provide comments. All comments will be taken into consideration when finalizing the National Procurement Strategy for Communication Services. The Government of Canada values your feedback and appreciates your interest and participation in the National Procurement Strategy for Communication Services.

The National Procurement Strategy for Communication Services is available for download at no charge from the MERX website.

Deadline for feedback is Friday, January 20, 2012.
