True To Type Tour - Designing and Communicating with Type

To launch the Carl Dair Typography Workshops in Western Canada, type designer Rod McDonald, CGD, FGDC, the creator of the Gibson typeface for the GDC, will be speaking in schools and giving public presentations on type and its role as a primary communication tool in design.

Rod has produced a number of typefaces including Cartier Book, a revival of Canada's first Latin typeface. He designed the first text face for a Canadian magazine, MacLean's. His alphabets and wordmarks have been used by organizations ranging from General Motors and the National Arts Centre to Toronto Life and Canadian Business.

His latest typeface, Classic Grotesque, has just been released by Monotype Imaging on fonts.com.
