COPYWRITER
Job Description
Reports to: Creative Director
Job Purpose:
•helps clients fulfill their objectives by developing strategic and creative communications solutions and writing copy
Key Objectives:
•to provide creative, relevant solutions, which realize strategic marketing/communications, plans
Typical Activities:
•develops ad campaigns and concepts of outstanding quality for print, broadcast, direct mail and interactive media for the agency and its clients
•writes copy for all media
•oversees the copy initiative in projects from inception through completion
•ensures a high level of quality and creativity
•ensures maintenance of concept through approval of design
•word processes and proofreads all advertising copy for approval and downloading into layout or software
•researches and maintains knowledge of clients’ products/services/image
•ensures copy/concepts reflect the strategic creative plan
•assists in writing proposals, marketing plans, publicity, etc
•sells and defends work
•other related duties as assigned

Problem Solving:
•recommends solutions to achieve immediate strategic and creative goals and long term client objectives
•identifies issues and informs supervisor as necessary
•explores and recommends new and creative approaches to realize the strategy
•recommends suppliers as necessary
•determines priorities so as to maximize productivity
Accountability:
•completes work assignments in a timely and professional manner
•ensures that agency quality standards are consistently met
•maintains positive, professional relationships with suppliers and with colleagues within Brown to nurture a team spirit
•ensures technical skills and knowledge are current and shared as appropriate
•adheres to and promotes Brown’s Mission, Vision and Values and is guided in everyday activities by the Reference Manual
Education and Training:
•graduation from a recognized post-secondary program
Experience:
•presentation of a portfolio demonstrating experience in copywriting for all media is required
