Now hold on, keep your pants on sparkey. Before you start packing up your pencil case, there’s criteria that you must meet:
Really, you must have an earnest, fervent, downright buggy enthusiasm for Print Production.
That being said, great design skills are also a must, meaning you have solid layout abilities, strong typographic sensibilities, and you understand the importance of “concept.”
We want to see at least 5 years of solid, well-rounded experience, – identity, packaging, and multi-page brochure design.
We want someone with an education in graphic design, meaning a diploma or a degree. If your idea of “design education” is a desktop publishing course you took last fall via the “inter-web”… don’t bother.
We want someone who’s self-motivated, who thrives on working with a team, and can take direction: someone who can pick up what’s being put down. – You pickin’ up what we’re putting down?
Plus of course, all the other stuff we shouldn’t really even have to mention, like proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
By now we might be sounding a bit like that petulant German piano teacher you had as a kid, – Ms. Schadenfreude; but really, we’re a fun, spirited and slightly off-center design studio, looking for that very special someone who’ll fit the bill. We like to laugh, and we like to work hard. If you think you’ve got what we’re looking for, we would love to meet you.
Check out our site: toolboxdesign.com for a good time, and a better feel for who we are.
And if you don’t have what we’re after, please don’t apply. Because if you do, – we’ll mock you, mercilessly, behind your back, at dinner parties, in other countries.
