The executive board is looking for fresh faces to join the fun. We have many exciting initiatives on the go and are looking for helping hands for the year. It can be a permanent position on the board (Treasurer, Sponsorship, Education) or it can be as casual as our friendly neighborhood volunteer.
Interested? You can review and download the following documents (Slate, Job Description) and submit your Nomination form today via e-mail to admin.abnorth@gdc.net or fax to 780-452-7588!
The Annual General Meeting is held to conduct elections and to discuss and vote on any society matters. Only members of the society can cast votes, but the proceedings are open to the general public. If you’re considering a more active role in the GDC or find out how to volunteer or to reconnect with the organization, the AGM is definitely the one meeting you don’t want to miss. At the conclusion of the AGM, we will screen the film Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight. Concession refreshments will be available.
Milton Glaser: To Inform and Delight
For many, Milton Glaser is the personification of American graphic design. Best known for co-founding New York Magazine and creating the enduring I ♥ NY campaign, the full breadth of Glaser’s remarkable artistic output is revealed in this documentary portrait. From newspapers and magazine designs, to interior spaces, logos, and brand identities, to his celebrated prints, drawings, posters and paintings, the documentary offers audiences a much richer appreciation for one of the great modern renaissance men. Artfully directed by first-time filmmaker Wendy Keys, the film glances into everyday moments of Glaser’s personal life and captures his immense warmth and humanity, and the boundless depth of his intelligence and creativity.
