All Associations BBQ and big thanks!

This 2nd Annual All Associations Year-End Bar-B-Q is an opportunity to thank all our respective members for their support over the past year, provide an excellent networking opportunity with over 25 different associations participating.

What makes Calgary as cutting edge and sophisticated as Stanford and Princeton? We have our own Laptop Orchestra!!

Liberating computers from the tedium of emails, word and accounting, ALE (ACAD Laptop Ensemble) explores the boundaries of laptops as a collaborative music-making instrument. Part improvisational jazz, part ambient soundscape and part club-culture rave party, ALE generates an inspired journey through music and sound in each performance.

Jennie Vallis is a fourth-year Media Arts and Digital Technologies student at the Alberta College of Art + Design. Currently she has been working on building innovative new tools for both sound and dance performances. After three years of spinning records in the Calgary nightlife, she is now producing her own electronic music in addition to playing live solo performances under the name Jennie O(hama). Her interactive instruments/environments and live performances have been exhibited at a number of music festivals including Motion Notion Festival, One Yellow Rabbit's High Performance Rodeo, The Happening New Media Festival and Sled Island Music Festival. Jennie performs both solo live laptop and turntable performances in addition to being a member of the ACAD Laptop Ensemble (ALE).
