The Society of Graphic Designers of Canada will hold its Annual General Meeting on April 28-30, 2011 at the Banff Spring Hotel, Banff, Alberta. During the 3-day meeting, the National Council will hear reports from the chapters, conduct business and plan the year’s activities. The theme this year is "Certification".

The Council is made up of the National Executive, Chapter Presidents, and a number of Chapter Representatives, based on the chapter’s professional membership.

A PechaKucha 20x20 presentation is the highlight of the opening night, when each chapter presents a report to the national via 20 slides with 20 seconds for each slide. This keeps the meeting moving! Attendees hear executive and committee reports on the second day. They review the audited financials, look at the proposed budget and discuss national dues. Proposed constitutional changes to be voted on at the meeting were sent to members on February 28. These changes and will harmonize the document with the major membership changes made last year. The third day of the meeting is devoted to committee planning work. Each member of the Council volunteers to work on a national committee. The latest GDC Tweets tease that a new GDC visual identity will be unveiled and will use Rod McDonald’s new Gibson typeface. Also anticipated is the presenetation of the new national membership promotion strategey by Roy White, CGD of Subplot.

The AGM is also a chance for your hard-working executive members to exchange ideas and get to know representatives from across the country.
