Best known as a founding member of the Group of Seven and a pioneer of modernism in Canadian landscape painting, James Edward Hervey MacDonald (1873-1932) was also a highly accomplished graphic designer. This exhibition brings together an outstanding selection of MacDonald’s design work, including book and magazine illustrations, bookplates, exhibition catalogues, and posters, from the National Gallery of Canada and other collections.
Born in Durham, England, J.E.H. MacDonald emigrated to Canada in 1887 with his English mother and Canadian father.
He studied at the Hamilton Art School and the Central Ontario School of Art and Design, in Toronto, Ontario.

This exciting event has been proudly organised by the 2012 graduates of Kwantlen's GDMA degree program as part of their week long exposition, which runs May 24-28th.
