The GDC and the GDC Foundation would like to express their gratitude to Aaron Draplin who donated 10 Canada Collected posters to be sold for the benefit the GDC Foundation. The posters sold-out within days of sale and raised $300 for the Foundation. “We are grateful to Aaron for this generous donation,” said Peggy Cady CGD, FGDC, Foundation Committee Chair. “Opportunities such as this will help grow the fund so that we can eventually offer benevolent assistance, research grants and scholarships.” Thanks to all who purchased the posters!

GDC Vancouver Island Chapter contributed to the Foundation’s fundraising efforts when designer Maggie Mcnab spoke at a recent event. She offered her book, Design by Nature, for sale, with $5 per book going to the Foundation. The Chapter matched the donation and the contribution was $40. They also recently made a $250 contribution from the proceeds of their 2011 Holiday Social.

The Foundation currently has raised $21,400.00  in the General Fund (for the benevolent fund, grants and professional scholarship) and $8,111.00  in the Ray Hyrnkow Scholarship Fund. A $500.00 scholarship was awarded from this fund in June. (See article in June eNews).
