It’s funny sometimes how a simple project can be so difficult. Matt asked me to write a little intro for this edition of eNews and I’ve struggled with it for a week. Mostly what I’m struggling with is what to say when we see so many things around us that are affecting our firms and our industry – the slow crawl back from the recession, crowdsourcing design, speculative design contests, our own navel-gazing about what we want to call ourselves. It’s easy to get discouraged.

But then I look around and see all the great work being done by our members, the events being organized by our chapters that bring designers together for good causes, and the passion that each of us put into our work, our communities, and our Society. The design related blog and Twitter community has recently illustrated the power we have when we work together. We are unique. We are resilient.

And so I say... kudos to us. We’ll not wait for the storm to pass.

Instead, we’ll dance in the rain.
