Next GDC Portfolio Review Scheduled for May

GDC Manitoba is currently planning its next portfolio review, and will be hosting an informative and invaluable portfolio workshop on Saturday, May 12. If you are considering an upgrade, or know of a GDC member who perhaps needs a push to further their status, read on!

There are two parts to the portfolio review process: An optional portfolio submission workshop, which we encourage everyone to attend, and then, the actual portfolio review itself.

Part 1: Portfolio Submission Workshop (optional but recommended)

Portfolio preparation is not always an easy process in applying for professional status in GDC. Many candidates prepare their portfolios on their own. However for those who would like some good guidelines and a bit of mentoring, GDC Manitoba is hosting a portfolio workshop on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

The workshop will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We will provide plenty of coffee and muffins or other tasty treats.

Bring samples of your work (loose samples are fine). During the last part of the workshop CGD members will be on hand for individual (and confidential) questions and feedback regarding your possible submissions. The workshop will be held at Manoverboard, 308 Morley Avenue, Suite 7, right off South Osborne Avenue in Winnipeg.

Please let us know if you will attend this workshop by Monday, May 7, 2012.

Part 2: Upgrading Your Current GDC Membership

Acceptance into CGD status categories requires the submission of your portfolio for a confidential review by GDC Manitoba standards officers. You may begin the application process by reviewing criteria and completing as applicable the submission requirements found online at gdc.net.

The deadline for submitting the next round portfolios for membership upgrade is Monday, May 28, 2012 by close of business.

Results of the review will be announced the week of June 11, 2012. We hope you'll consider upgrading your membership. GDC Manitoba will be in contact with current LGDC members who now have more than seven years of total education and practice.

Let us know if you have any questions by contacting Andrew Boardman, GDC Manitoba membership chair.
