GDC hosted three West Coast design events

We are proud to support design gatherings for our national design community. In Vancouver, we hosted three events that brought our members together to share their passion for education and design, and to celebrate the holidays.

ico-D 28th General Assembly and PRACTIVISM X: Igniting Societal Change Through Design

November 29, 2019. It was an evening of inspiration and dialogue focused on radical change, and the 10th anniversary of Practivism (Practical Activism) held at Emily Carr Institue of Art & Design (ECUAD) in Vancouver. Thank you to the panel of PRACTIVISM X speakers: Michelle Nahanee, Nayeli Jimenez, and Elizabeth (Dori) Tunstall for sharing their stories of how they have applied their craft towards the service of societal good. How can we, as designers, wield the power of our talents to be the catalyst for maximum impact?

GDC BC Educator's Round Table 2019

GDC BC hosted an international educators roundtable at ECUAD, alongside the ico-D 28th General Assembly. GDC played host to delegates from around the world. Discussion at this event was aimed at the issues educators currently face in a changing design field. It was a lively roundtable, diagnosing common issues, identifing root causes, and brainstorming solutions for our collective development.

Festivus Holiday Party 2019

December 12, 2019. The BC Chapter had some fun at it's annual Festivus event with a wine lottery at the Shebeen Whiskey House. Attendees were asked to bring a bottle or two of wine to be entered into a draw. One lucky winner walked away with the whole lot!

GDC is committed to supporting the national design community. If you want to host an event, or want to be involved, please reach out to your local chapter president or send us an email.
